Darren and Luisa are walking to school together. They are talking about what they did at the weekend and their pets…

Darren: Hi Luisa. It’s really good to see you. How are you?

Luisa: Hi Darren. I’m good, thanks. What did you do at the weekend?

Darren: I stayed at my grandparent’s house. I had a great time!

Luisa: What did you do there?

Darren: Well, my grandparents live on farm, so there are lots of animals there. There are cows, horses, ducks, hens and rabbits… They’ve got some pets too, a tortoise and two dogs. I loved looking after all the animals. It was great fun!

Luisa: Oh, I love animals too! I have a cat, called Mack. I love taking care of him and playing with him too. It’s my favourite hobby!

Darren: It’s mine too! I took my dog, Rover, with me at the weekend too. It’s just really nice to know that they always need you and love you…

Luisa: Exactly! When I feed Mack and play with him, I feel important. He keeps me amused and relaxed too. Who takes care of your dog when you’re not at home?

Darren: Well, I usually take him for a walk in the morning and feed him before I go out. He just sleeps or plays with some toys during the day. He’s always very happy when I get home though!

Luisa: You’re right – Mack is the same. I think they really miss us when we’re not at home!
